ITALY, AUG 24: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck Italy near the city of Perugia, reports the US Geological Survey.
The earthquake hit 76km south of Perugia at a very shallow depth of 10km and could be felt as far as Rome.
At least 6 people have been reported dead at this time.
In Rome, the La Repubblica newspaper reported that buildings shook for 20 seconds due to the quake.
