SHAH ALAM, AUG 4: The Selangor Government has spent nearly RM8 million since 2008 for repair works on Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) in the state.
Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said that in 2011 and 2012, more than RM3.1 million was spent for repairs, and replacement of elevators and water-pumps in the Lembah Subang 1 and Kota Damansara PPR.
“Meanwhile, this year alone, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) had to bear RM4.7 million in costs for maintenance work such as cleaning of public areas, electrical work and rubbish collection in Lembah Subang 2 PPR.
“That cost was on top of the RM7.5 million budgeted for 2015 to repair and maintain Kota Damansara PPR (RM5 million), Kg Baru Hicom PPR (RM1.1 million) and Serendah PPR (RM1.4 million),” he said in a statement.
Commenting further, Iskandar said that since the change of government in March 2008, Selangor Pakatan had inherited a very problematic situation.
In fact, Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar’s allegation that the State Government had ostensibly failed to maintain the PPR in Selangor is inaccurate.
“Noh’s attack on Selangor Government was not accurate and not all facts were revealed.
“Noh should reduce politicking and focus on effort to help the rakyat,” he said.
Prior to this, Noh had said that he will send an official letter to the State Government requesting to take over the management and maintenance of PPR buildings in Selangor.
The Tanjung Karang Member of Parliament said that would be the Ministry’s transformation and new approach in handling PPR upon seeing the State Government’s failure to manage the Lembah Subang 1 PPR.
