Rio 2016: No medals in women’s individual 10 metre platform event

RIO DE JANEIRO, AUG 19: Injury has stopped Pandelela Rinong from winning any medals in the women’s individual 10 metre platform event after finishing 11th in the finals of the Rio Olympics on Thursday.
Nur Dhabitah Sabri, 17, shone in comparison with her senior, occupying ninth place ahead of Pandelela.
Nur Dhabitah scored 338.00 points while Pandelela, the silver medallist at the 2012 London Olympics, scored 330.45 points.
China won the gold and silver in the event through Ren Qian (439.25)dand Si Yajie (419.40), while Canadian diver Meaghan Benfeito won the bronze with 389.20 points.
Pandelela however managed to contribute the first medal for Malaysia in Rio in the women’s synchronised 10 metre platform together with Cheong Jun Hoong.
In Thursday’s final, the Sarawakian had moral support from her family who were there to watch her in action.
Pandelela had suffered injuries to the shoulder, back and hips two months prior to the Rio Olympics.
