Sungai Buloh reverberates with cries of Reformasi

BY: ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SUNGAI BULOH, AUG 11: It isn’t the norm to hear shouts for reformasi in solidarity against the injustice suffered by KEADILAN leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in conjunction with his 69th birthday.
These cries are proof that the people need great changes, demanding for the leader’s release from iron bars.
Such was the situation at Sungai Buloh, where people from all across the country came to celebrate Anwar’s birthday in front of the Sungai Buloh prison the night of August 10.

While the authorities had initially warned against any provocation in front of the prison, the situation was clearly under control the entire time.
It wasn’t an ordinary programme as the audience was shown videos and images of injustice against Anwar and his family in 1998.
National laureate Datuk A Samad Said held a poetry recital to commemorate the struggles of the former opposition leader.
There was even singing by Semambu State Assemblyman Lee Chean Chung and lectures from Pakatan top leaders.

Wan Azizah also received calligraphy from Anwar’s supporters in solidarity and appreciation for the former leader’s struggles.
Also at the event were Selangor Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi, Elizabeth Wong and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Veteran DAP Leader Lim Kit Siang, PAS representative Datuk Mahfuz Omar and AMANAH member Hanipa Maidin were also present to show their support.
