World Humanitarian Day: Relieve the suffering of victims

BY: DATO’ SERI MOHAMED AZMIN ALI
SHAH ALAM, AUG 19: World Humanitarian Day is a day to reflect on the need to relieve the suffering of the most vulnerable members of humankind and to pay tribute to the selfless people who put themselves in harm’s way to offer humanitarian aid to them.
The plague of war, famine and grinding poverty has displaced people by the millions who end up in refugee camps often deprived of even the most basic necessities.
This year’s theme of “One Humanity” sums up the crucial need for all of us across political, racial and religious divides to stand together and do our best to provide the much needed help to the millions around the world.
If we believe in the dignity of every human being and the sanctity of life, then we must collectively do our part to ease the plight of the victims of conflict and violence as well as the ravages of natural disasters.
