High tides: 224 evacuated to relief centres

SHAH ALAM, SEP 20: 52 families, totalling 224 people, were evacuated to three relief centres in Selangor the previous night, due to high tide phenomenon.

He said three evacuation centres were opened at Dewan Kampung Tok Muda, Community Centre at Lorong Hamzah 2, Kampung Tok Adam and Sungai Air Tawar Multi-purpose Hall.

Meanwhile, the high tide phenomenon is not as serious as what happened in several other areas in Selangor on September 19.
Observations by SelangorKini in Sekinchan found the sea level in Redang Beach, Sekinchan to be safe and not rising beyond the barriers on the beach.
However several low lying areas along the beach in Bagan Sekinchan are flooded.
The good and sunny weather in the morning are among the reasons why the high tide phenomenon is not as bad as on September 19.
In the incident on September 19, 13 areas in five districts in Selangor were flooded due to the high tide phenomenon in the early morning.
