MB: Letter for meeting with EC within 48 hours

SHAH ALAM, SEP 21: A letter to the Election Commission (EC) will be sent within 48 hours to hold a meeting regarding the redelineation exercise.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that a meeting with the EC is needed so that the state government can get basic detailed information about the redelineation.
He said the meeting was decided after the Selangor State Executive Council was informed of the EC’s suggestion and objected to it.
“The state government objects to the EC’s suggestion and we have agreed to take the following steps.
“I will issue an official letter to the EC today to hold a meeting with them so that we can be given information about their reasons behind the redelineation exercise.
“What is their methodology, system, and basis used because the EC’s suggestion goes against two major articles in the Federal Constitution after we referred to legal counsel,” said Mohamed Azmin.
Mohamed Azmin previously rejected suggestions that the Selangor State Assembly be dissolved earlier to make way for snap elections.
