SHAH ALAM, SEP 11: Malaysians who have not registered as voters before the end of September might lose their chance to vote if the 14th General Election (GE14) is held before mid-2017.
PAS Selangor Deputy Commissioner Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said this after being informed by the Election Commission (EC) that it would be using the electoral roll that is updated till September if elections are held in the first half of 2017.
“I advise those who are of age to register before this October to enable their names to be listed on the electoral roll if elections are held in March.

“If they are late they may lose their opportunity to vote unless elections are held later,” said Dr Ahmad Yunus when contacted by SelangorKini.
He explained that the failure to vote in elections will only be a loss to the rakyat as they had the right to elect their leaders in accordance to the country’s constitution.
He said that the public’s votes in the elections are important in determining the direction of the country especially when it is faced with challenges that involve the fate of the rakyat.
