Ringgit opens lower at 4.1400/1450 against US Dollar

KUALA LUMPUR, SEP 27: The ringgit opens lower against the US dollar today as investors remained cautious awaiting the outcome of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) meeting in Algiers that began on September 26.
At 9.02 am, the Ringgit was quoted at 4.1400/1450 against the Dollar from 4.1260/1320 on Monday, as reported by BERNAMA.
A dealer said investors remained sceptical over OPEC’s willingness to cooperate and ease the supply glut, despite Brent crude oil prices edging up 3.2% to USD47.35 a barrel on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Ringgit also traded lower against other major currencies. It fell against the British pound to 5.3625/3711 from Monday’s close of 5.3349/3452 and went down against the Yen to 4.1268/1338 from 4.1047/1110.
It also weakened against the Euro to 4.6546/6611 from 4.6368/6452 on Monday.
