RM10,000 for Selangor contingent to join SOPMA

BY: LIZAWATI MADFA
SHAH ALAM, SEP 25: The Selangor contingent to the National Deaf Games 2016 ( SOPMA) has received a donation of RM10,000 from the state government.
Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi said that the donation was to prepare the contingent for the games that will take place in Kuching, Sarawak.
“Unfortunately we can’t do much because we received the application quite late.
“It is hoped that this injection of funds will at least help reduce the burden faced by the contingent and boost their morale to compete and emerge as champions,” she said at the Selangor Flag Handover Ceremony to the SOPMA 2016 contingent at Carlton Holiday Hotel and Suites in Shah Alam.

Also present was Selangor Deaf Sports Association President B Sarkunan and Selangor Sports Council Deputy Director Najwan Halimi.
Daroyah said the state government has never discriminated against any organisation representing the disabled.
“I do, however, hope that the organisation will make preparations and plans in advance so that we can allocate an adequate amount of funds.
“We have no problems in helping, what more those who bring Selangor’s name to greater heights and glory,” she said.
