BY: ERMIZI MUHAMAD
KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 17: Putrajaya is deemed to have failed in addressing the South China Sea territorial overlap issue involving several countries in the region.
Gombak Member of Parliament Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said there have been no specific or effective approach taken by the Malaysian Government on this matter.
“What is Malaysia’s stand on this matter? The dispute and the overlapping issue will create tension and doubts in the community on the stand of the Malaysian Government.

“Why doesn’t Malaysia take the approach taken by Tun Abdul Razak when he was the Prime Minister when he created a peace-zone in the region?
“Why doesn’t the current Prime Minister emulate his predecessor to guarantee peace and stability in the coastal area?” he said during the Dewan Rakyat assembly, here, on October 17.
Earlier, he commented on America’s action in sending their army into the disputed area of the South China Sea.
The same action had been taken by China for the purpose of monitoring coastal boundaries.
Mohamed Azmin also expressed his concern should Putrajaya fail to take an effective approach in tackling this issue.
However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak stated in rebuttal that the issue will be addressed through consultation and regional cooperation involving the affected countries.
