KLANG, OCT 7:  The basic infrastructure damage and destruction of Bagan Sungai Lima which happened during the recent high tides will be given due attention, said Ean Yong Hian Wah.
Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said that will include
repair works on a pedestrian walkway which was badly damaged due to the recent disaster.
“The high tide accompanied by a massive storm was said to be the worst in the last 100 years and there was a lot of damage but we will prioritise repairing basic infrastructures.
“Before we provide the budget for it, we will ask the relevant agencies to assess the situation,” he said to reporters after a work-visit at Pulau Ketam, here, on October 7.
At the same time, he also asked residents in the coastal area to be careful as the phenomenon is expected to recur in mid-October.
“I advise residents in the coastal areas including Bagan Sungai Lima to be careful and make adequate preparations to cope with the phenomenon again,” he said.
In mid-September, the high tide phenomenon hit several coastal areas in Selangor.
According to the National Hydrographic Centre, the same phenomenon is expected to recur in mid-October with water levels as high as 5.7 metres.
