PETALING JAYA, OCT 19: Bersih 2.0 will continue with its Bersih 5 peaceful assembly inspite of the IS-style death threats received by its chairman, Maria Chin Abdullah.
Speaking during her media conference, Maria said Bersih 5 should continue its fight for the sake and benefit of Malaysians.
“The fight for the good of the people will continue. We will not be cowed with threats of violence and will continue the Bersih convoy as well as the assembly this November 19.
“Our demands remain,” she said after lodging a police report at the Police Headquarters at IPD Petaling Jaya on October 18.
Also present were Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Gelang Patah Member of Parliament Lim Kit Siang and Amanah President Mohamad Sabu.

The media had revealed that Maria received death threats via Whatsapp application from an unknown number.
The message was also sent with photos of Maria, Bersih secretariat member Mandeep Singh and former coalition chairman Ambiga Sreenevasan; which showed knives at their necks, IS-militant style.
All three has received death threats from an irresponsible individual through that message.
Maria was most shocked, and revealed that all three of her children had also received the same threat when their identification card photos were attached with the message.
“They are using my three children as part of the threat and this clearly shows their desperation,” she said.
However, Maria refused to reveal more details on the photos of her three children.
Meanwhile, commenting on the police report, Ambiga who is also a lawyer, said that the police has a legal obligation to conduct further investigations into this matter.
“We were not informed under which act the investigation will be made. However, police have the obligation to conduct investigations without protecting any individual or party,” she said.
