Five Federal Court judges to hear Anwar’s review

PUTRAJAYA, OCT 12: The five-judge Federal Court bench begins hearing KEADILAN de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s application to review his sodomy conviction and five-year sentence in relation to the Sodomy 2 case.
The judges are Chief Judge of Malaya, Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin; Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum; Federal Court Judges  Tan Sri Hasan Lah, Tan Sri Abu Samah Nordin and Tan Sri Zaharah Ibrahim.
Anwar is represented by his lawyers, Datuk Sri Gopal Sri Ram, N Surendran, R Sivarasa, Sangeet Kaur Deo, J Leela and Latheefa Koya.
The prosecution team includes Datuk Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid, Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud, Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin, Tengku Amir Zaki Tengku Abdul Rahman and Zhafran Rahim Hamzah.
The court will hear Anwar’s application to review the previous decision regarding his conviction and sentence in accordance to Rule 137 of the Rules of the Federal Court 1995.
The review is viewed as Anwar’s final appeal to be released after the Pardons Board that convened on March 16, 2015 rejected his pardon petition and upheld his five-year sentence.
