MB: Congratulations, #Bersih 5 Convoy

BY: NAEEM RAFFI
SHAH ALAM, OCT 2: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali congratulated participants of #Bersih 5 Convoy, which is taking place simultaneously across six states beginning yesterday.
Mohamed Azmin said that the convoy inspires the rakyat to rise against the abuse of power and corruption.
“The rakyat’s demand for clean and fair elections are the way forward to save the country from being utterly destroyed in the hands of those in power through electoral fraud,” the KEADILAN Deputy President wrote in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, Bersih 2.0 launched convoys to cities nationwide to publicise the Bersih 5 gathering that will be held on November 19 to seek institutional change.

However, the #Bersih 5 Convoy from Lumut to Teluk Intan, Perak was tarnished by harassment from Red Shirt supporters led by Sungai Besar Division Chief Datuk Jamal Md Yunos.
Bersih 2.0 said that around 30 to 40 Red Shirts on motorcycles followed the convoy and then dragged flags from convoy vehicles, kicked cars and smashed side mirrors.
Kampung Tunku Assemblyman Lau Weng San urged the police to speed up action against Jamal, just as what was done in cases involving the opposition.
“It is clear that the people who deliberately caused chaos and confusion are the Red Shirts led by Jamal.
“I urge the police to take immediate action by investigating and arresting the Red Shirts led by Jamal in the same way they do in investigations involving opposition ‘wrongdoing’,” Lau said in a statement.
