Petroleum revenue declines, BN expected to manipulate citizen’s money

BY NAZLI IBRAHIM
KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 20: The Federal Government is expected to present a budget that will increase pressure on citizens due to higher living costs, considering the extravagant style of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Batu Member of Parliament Tian Chua said that this is due to the steep decline in revenue from petroleum that the country is experiencing currently.
“Petronas is the highest contributor to the national income and its revenue has plunged due to falling global oil prices. This means that the government will need to find new sources of income to cover their expenses and excessive spending.

“What other source of income can be exploited besides oil? Of course citizens will have to bear all these,” he said when met by SelangorKini at the Parliament lobby on October 20.
Clearly, the Federal Government should cease the practice of excessive spending to prevent this from happening.
The government was also urged to focus on key sectors such as education and health, which have a direct impact on the welfare of the people.
He said, on the contrary, the 2017 Alternative Budget by Pakatan Harapan  presented on October 19 clearly outlined the efforts to reduce citizens’ burden in the face of the current uncertain economic situation.
“Efforts to eliminate leakages, corruption and wastages will  eventually lead to the increase of national income without unnecessarily burdening citizens with Good and Services Tax (GST) and others.”
