Umno ministers and Negeri Sembilan CM should not deny but assist clean up at Nilai pollution site

BY: ELIZABETH WONG
SHAH ALAM, OCT 24: Yesterday evening, Air Selangor and the Selangor Water Management Board (LUAS) had identified the site in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, which evidence of dumping of pollutants were found.
nilai-pollution-2A police report was filed last night by LUAS last night in Negeri Sembilan and informed to DOE Negeri Sembilan. Samples at the site including at the drains and soil samples were collected and have been sent to the laboratories for tests to ascertain the identity of the pollutants present.
We believe the pollutants were disposed there on purpose at Negeri Sembilan with full knowledge that the drainage there would eventually lead to the border of Selangor and into the intake point of Semenyih Water Treatment Plant.
In addition, the timing of the disposal of the pollutants were precise, to hit Selangor just when Menteri Besar Selangor Dato Seri Azmin Ali was due to launch a new water treatment plant at Labuhan Dagang, Kuala Langat that same morning.
There is no such thing as coincidence and our findings yesterday at the site strengthens our suspicions of sabotage on Selangor.
nilai-pollution-4Cleanup of the area in Nilai began last night with the help of IWK to pump away the contaminated water from the sump pit.
At the Selangor end, LUAS has, since last night, built a bund at Sungai Buah to divert and to pump out the contaminated water from reaching Selangor waterways. This has been assisted by IWK, Sepang Municipal Council and Kajang Municipal Council.
The Semenyih Water Treatment Plant has begun operations early this morning. By 1:30 pm, the plant has starting sending water out to reservoirs.
However the distribution of water and recovery will be in stages. The key areas including surrounding areas which currently experiencing water interruption are as follows:
