‘United Nations, open your eyes to Israel’s brutalities’

BY: SYASYA SUFIAN
KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 7: 25 non-governmental associations in this country is pushing for the United Nations (UN) to condemn Israel’s brutality in detaining 13 activists from the ‘Women’s Boat to Gaza’ mission.
The call was voiced in a memorandum submitted to the UN representative special coordinator, Juanita Joseph at Wisma UN, here, on October 7.
Muslim Regional President Dr Raja Ahmad Iskandar Al-Hiss said, Malaysians especially are fed up and disappointed with Israelis’ actions.
“Although those captured have been released, we continue to emphasize to the United Nations that this should not and need not happen again.
“The Israelis are cowards to detain 13 unarmed women who were leading a peace mission whom they felt was a threat to them,” he said.

At the same time, Raja Ahmad said that the feedback given by the UN representative during the memorandum delivery session was also quite disappointing and vague.
“They are still not able to provide a comprehensive explanation as they themselves did not receive clear information on the incident.
“This is the weakness of the UN; not being able to guarantee the validity and clarity of information. So how are they to represent the world in resolving issues like this,” he said.
He also said that the capture of the 13 international activists could also be made as justification by terrorist groups like IS or DAESH to continue their inhumane activities.
“We fear that this will become the justification for certain parties to gain sympathy and support for Israel to resist via immoral acts,” he said.
