BNM international reserve RM405.5 billion as at October 31

KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 8: The international reserve of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) amounted to RM405.5 billion (equivalent to USD 97.8 billion) as at October 31, 2016; compared to RM405.6 billion (equivalent to USD 97.8 billion) as at October 14, 2016.
BNM said in a statement, the reserve level was sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.2 times of short-term external debt.
Main components of the international reserve are foreign currency reserves (USD 89.9 billion), the reserve in the International Monetary Fund (USD 0.8 billion), Special Drawing Rights (SDR) (USD 1.1 billion), gold (USD 1.6 billion) and other Reserves Assets ( USD 4.4 billion).
Central bank assets include gold and foreign exchange and other reserves which include SDR (RM405.541 billion), the Malaysian Government Papers (RM1.643 billion), deposits with financial institutions (RM1.167 billion), loans and advances (RM7.782 billion), land and building (RM2.113 billion) and other assets (RM5.857 billion).
Liabilities and capital consist of paid-up capital (RM100 million), reserves (RM123.21 billion), currency in circulation (RM92.442 billion), deposits by financial institutions (RM172.292 billion), deposits by federal government (RM10.388 billion), other deposits (RM847.23 million), Bank Negara Papers (RM5.65 billion), allocation of SDRs (RM7.759 billion) and other liabilities (RM11.415 billion).
