Don’t let cartoons rule the country – Zunar

BY: NAZLI IBRAHIM
KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 29: The Rakyat should be reminded not to continue to allow the country to be run by a ‘cartoon government’ led by a ‘cartoon leader’, said cartoonist Zulkiflee SM Anwar Ulhaque.
The cartoonist, better known as Zunar, said his words were justified through the government’s actions that cannot be accepted by sane and civilised individuals.
He said that Putrajaya is filled with cartoon characters who disguise themselves as humans till they are able to impose unjust laws on innocent individuals and parties.
“There will come a time when you walk on the street and are beaten but the assailant isn’t caught, instead you are. This is how cartoonish Malaysia has become.
“Never in the history of the world has riot police ever needed to protect a cartoon exhibition. What kind of government is this? They do not deserve to be called Umno but cartoons.

“Are you willing to be ruled by cartoons? No. We love reading and watching cartoons but don’t allow cartoons to rule humans, it’s not logical,” he said during the gathering celebrating the release of BERSIH 2.0 Chairman Maria Chin Abdullah at Merdeka Square on November 28.
Zunar added that the effort to free Malaysia from Umno-Barisan Nasional’s (BN) grasp requires everyone’s support, in accordance to their skills.
He said that Umno-BN is still capable of being the government as the rakyat has not fully risen.
Touching on the pressures he faced, Zunar who is charged with nine counts under the Sedition Act, said he was still able to stand up and oppose Umno-BN thanks to public support.
