Heavy vehicle parking lots considered in abandoned areas

BY: NORHAYATI UMOR
SHAH ALAM, NOV 7: The State Government will consider suggestions to create heavy vehicle parking lots on empty or abandoned areas near residential areas.
Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said the suggestion will be studied before implementation as not all residential areas are suitable.
“We have taken the suggestion into consideration but not every housing estate has the appropriate areas.

“Preparing heavy vehicle parking lots will be based on the allocation provided under the planning guidelines of Selangor,” he said at the state assembly sitting.
Ean Yong said the law used to stop heavy vehicles being parked at residential areas at this time is under the Local Authorities bylaw regarding road obstructions.
“Offenders can have a RM1,000 compound imposed and the case be brought to court with a fine of up to RM2,000,” he said.
Currently there are 12 heavy vehicle parking lots in Shah Alam City Council, Petaling Jaya City Council (1), Klang Municipal Council (6), Subang Jaya Municipal Council (1), Sepang Municipal Council (3), Selayang Municipal Council (1) and Kuala Selangor District Council (3).
