Let Trump’s victory be a lesson

BY: NORHAYATI UMOR
SHAH ALAM, 14 NOV: Young voters in our country must view the recent United States 45th Presidential Election as a lesson, in preparation for the coming 14th General Elections (GE14).
KEADILAN Stategic Director Sim Tze Tzin said that this is because young voters are the most important assets in determining the victory of their chosen parties.
“In Donald Trump’s victory, everyone saw that the majority of votes were not by youths.
“The same goes for Brexit.  We do not want this group to regret later. When you do not vote, your future will be determined by the older generation,” he said to SelangorKini.
Sim said that this issue is an important lesson for the younger generation to evaluate and act.

Meanwhile, KEADILAN Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar wants voters among youth not be wasted, especially when more they are the majority of voters in PRU14.
She said, a total of 4 million youths are eligible to vote in this country, and they need to be made aware of this in advance.
“In the American election, more than 46% of youths were eligible to vote, but they did not vote, and instead also mostly preferred Hilary Clinton.
We have 4 million youths. So it is time for them to think and weigh matters carefully. Votes determine the future of the younger generation,” she said.
