SERENDAH, NOV 29: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that the Selangor Water Supply Company (SYABAS) water pipe is not the cause of the landslide which happened in Taman Idaman.
He said the cause was reportedly due to underground water flow, which resulted in a motorist being injured on November 26.
“At first we thought that a pipe had burst in the housing area.
“But when Air Selangor took immediate steps to close the pipe, we found that there was still underground water flowing.
“As such, this is not caused by a burst pipe but could be due to other reasons which JKR (Selangor Public Works Department) is investigating,” he said.
He said that during his press conference after a site visit to the landslide area.
Observations by SelangorKini found that Taman Idaman, which is 5 kilometres from Rawang Town, is a residential area built not far from an old mining site.
In the 1 am incident on November 26, the landslide caused a 150-metre wide hole as deep as 10 to 15 metres.
Following the incident, the National Security Council (MKN) had declared the area a Red Zone.
