Power abuse: GLC subsidiary director amongst three detained

PUTRAJAYA, NOV 15: The Magistrate Court has issued a remand order on a director of a government-linked company (GLC) subsidiary with a Datuk title, as well as two other men, for seven days starting today.
BH Online reported that the remand order was issued by Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman to assist in investigations relating to power abuse and corruption worth over RM39.9 million.
The suspect with a Datuk title and aged around 50 years old was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Shah Alam yesterday at around 5 pm.
He was arrested on suspicion of approving a project to a company in which he has an interest when he was CEO in a GLC before resigning from the post last year.
He was said to have awarded the project worth almost RM50 million to the company concerned and had taken some kickbacks in return, when he was holding the CEO position for five years since 2010.
Two other men, aged between 35 and 61 years old, were the former Managing Director and director of the same company, were detained at the MACC Headquarters here around 8pm last night after giving their statements.
All three were brought to the Magistrate Court at 9.05 am wearing the MACC orange prison-suits and were handcuffed.
