Set-up peacekeeping team from Islamic countries to protect Rohingya

BY: NORHAYATI UMOR
SHAH ALAM, NOV 24: A peacekeeping team from Islamic countries needs to be set-up immediately to protect Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar from continuous oppression.
PAS Vice President Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said this ethnic cleansing incident should open the eyes of the Muslim leaders across the world.
He said that although the world has the United Nations, it is not under the control of Islamic countries.
“Today, there are Muslim communities who are minorities in their countries facing threats of ethnic cleansing, genocide or expulsion from their homes and villages.
“Although the peacekeeping team might be small initially, but it will indicate to the world that Muslim minorities will always be protected,” he said in a statement.
Iskandar also said that with the absence of intervention of a peacekeeping team, the Rohingya will not get the protection they are entitled to.
“We have had enough with ethnic cleansing of the Bosnian Muslims in the Balkans in the early nineties,” he said.
