SSP Selangor 2035, core of state’s development

SETIA ALAM, NOV 30: The State Government urged all departments and Local Authorities (PBTs) to make State Structure Plan (SSP) Selangor 2035 the core driving the state’s physical development.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that it was needed in order to face world challenges and prepare a strategy to provide an environment with quality.
“According to SSP Selangor 2035, the population is expected to increase to nine million people in 2035, with an average annual population growth of 2%.
“Therefore, the State Government has to confront various new challenges, especially in terms of preparation of public facilities, infrastructure, utilities and housing,” he said.
He said in a speech at the Town and Country Planning Seminar Opening Ceremony in conjunction with ‘Perancangan Bandar Sedua’ Second Day, for Selangor State Level 2016 at Setia Alam Convention Centre, On November 29.

He said that such a scenario would have to be more holistic in planning and implemented cooperatively by the state and federal governments, to ensure facilities and infrastructure are available to accommodate a high population.
“There are three pillars of development identified to support the strategic direction in order to guide the formulation of the SSP Selangor 2035 Draft.
“Amongst which are moving towards a thriving city, moving towards sustainable urban areas, and moving towards a prosperous city,” he said.
