State Government considers single mothers quota for Rumah Selangorku

SHAH ALAM, NOV 3: A quota for single mothers for the Rumah Selangorku programme will be implemented to help them own their own houses.
Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said that the implementation will be based on a merit system following several criteria.
“The merit system will help single mothers own a house. After adding the overall merits, individuals who score the highest merits are eligible to buy a Rumah Selangorku unit.

“Currently, we have not yet set up a specific quota for this group.
“But after several debates at state level, recommendation on the quota can be considered,” he said.
He said that in answer to a question presented by Kota Damansara Assemblyman Halimaton Saadiah Bohan during the State Assembly sitting on November 3.
Previously, the State Government had set some initial procedures to determine eligibility of owning a Rumah Selangorku unit.
Iskandar said that the merit system will calculate the applicant’s monthly income and family support.

Rumah Selangorku is a pioneer of local real estate for the people, especially for the lower income group.
Although it is still new in the housing property industry, nevertheless sales price for Rumah Selangorku units do not exceed RM250,000 per unit, which is a convincing move for the people to apply for via the Selangor Housing and Property Board.
Rumah Selangorku’s closest competitors are Wilayah Persekutuan Affordable Homes (RUMAWIP) and 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing (PPA1M), with sale prices of RM300,000.
