Amsterdam, Barcelona and Taipei best examples for Selangor

SHAH ALAM: Selangor is urged to take the best approaches as done internationally to realise the development of a Smart City in the state.
Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) Deputy Director Dr Fahmi Ngah said Barcelona (Spain), Taipei City (Taiwan), Amsterdam (The Netherlands) are the best examples of Smart City development in the international stage.
“This approach can be implemented in Selangor by examining a few perspectives and ideas that can be used to turn Selangor into a Smart State,” he said.
Dr Fahmi said this as a Selangor Smart City Conference 2016 moderator at The Saujana Hotel.
Smart Urban Project Director Elia Hernando Navarro (Spain) and Taipei City Deputy Mayor Chin Rong Lin (Taiwan) were invited as panellists to share their experience in developing Smart Cities in their countries.
Also invited was Low Carbon Urban Planning Amsterdam Strategic Director Frans Anton Vermast and Smart City Cyberjaya representative Dato’ Faris Yahaya.
Sharing their experiences, the four panellists concluded that technological development and smart solutions are capable of realising a Smart City concept.
This included focus on 12 main components to increase the quality of a green city, environment friendly, education, health, science and technology.
At the same event, Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Exco Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, representing Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Menteri Besar Incorporated CEO Raja Shahreen Raja Othman launched the Selangor Smart City Blueprint Action Plan.
The organising of the Selangor Smart City International Conference 2016 is part of the State Government’s initiative to boost and encourage the Smart City development agenda.
