KDEBWM to take over waste management in 3 local authorities

BY: ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SHAH ALAM, DEC 8: After handling waste collection from Klang Municipal Council (MPK), Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad Waste Management (KDEBWM) will be taking over the duties of garbage collection in three local authorities in the state beginning 2017.
General Manager Ramli Mohd Tahir said the proposal to take over the function in the three local authorities was made after the expiry of the previous contractor’s contract.
“If the State Government instructs us to take over the process, we will comply immediately.
“However, we are still in the final discussion stage and we are waiting for several processes to be finalised before taking over,” he said to SelangorKini.

Prior to this, KDEBWM had taken over domestic garbage collection management in Klang Municipality on July 1, 2016.
During that period, all collection areas in Klang were under the responsibility of KDEBWM except for Taman Sentosa and Bandar Bukit Tinggi.
In the same development, Ramli said he is optimistic that they will be able to handle the solid waste collection in all local authority areas in Selangor more systematically.
He said, this guarantee is made after considering their success in addressing waste collection issues in Klang for the past six months.
“So far we have received positive feedback from the local community and we will not be complacent with this achievement.
“We will continue to provide the best service based on the existing budget, to improve waste collection service in this area,” he said.
