MB: HIJRAH helps, while BR1M is political bribery

BY AFIX REDZUAN
SHAH ALAM, DEC 30: The HIJRAH Selangor business financing programme proves to be more effective in empowering the people’s economically, compared to Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (BR1M).
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato ‘Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the RM600 BR1M that lasts about two days is not able to develop the people’s economy and is also akin to political bribery.

“This is a form of bribery that can take various forms. If it was a true economic aid, then it does not empower the people.
“Not like in Selangor, where we do not bribe people with cash. What we do is to empower people through HIJRAH,” he said.
Through HIJRAH Selangor business financing, borrowers can expand their businesses with aid from RM5,000 to RM50,000 without being charged any interest.
Touching on the statement by KEADILAN President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who does not consider BR1M a form of bribery, Mohamed Azmin said it was unfair to put the blame on her.
“We need to see (that BR1M is not a bribery) in what context. It is unfair to put the blame on a KEADILAN President.
“I have been saying this is a form of bribery, a corruption practiced in Putrajaya,” he said.
