SHAH ALAM, DEC 14: The Shah Alam Municipal Council (MBSA) is planning to increase its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes involving all races and groups, in an effort to help the less fortunate.
Mayor Dato’ Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad said he plans to extend the programme abroad to help poor countries.
“We are now planning to help, for example, the Muslim community in Cambodia.
“However, our focus is to help those in our country first,” he said when met recently
Nevertheless, he said that the plan would depend on the budget available.
According to Zaharin, the MBSA CSR programmes are now leaning more towards volunteer activities.
“Currently, we don’t have a big budget and we organise activities with volunteers, such as tree-planting, gotong-royong and repair works.
“Our focus is to help everyone. If youths need us, we will implement programmes for them,” he said.
At the same time, he said that MBSA will go to Baling, Kedah in the near future for its CSR programme.
