Flood: 28 schools in Kelantan still closed

KOTA BHARU, JAN 3: A total of 28 schools in this state are still closed on January 3 due to floods that has hit Kelantan since Saturday.
The National Education Department (JPN), in a statement, said that the closure affected 6,177 students who are not able to continue their studies on the third day of the 2017 school session.
The schools affected are in four districts namely Pasir Mas, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah and Tumpat.
He said the closure is due to the schools affected by the floods. Besides routes to the schools have been cut-off and can pose a danger to students and teachers.
“With that total, the Pasir Mas District Education Department (PPD) registered the highest number of schools being closed, which is 16 schools, as a result of the rising water level of Sungai Golok.
“That is followed by Kuala Krai PPD with 6 schools, Tanah Merah PPD with 5 schools and a school in Tumpat,” he said.
