KUALA LANGAT, JAN 12: Kuala Langat District Council (MDKL) continues to excel when it became the first local authority in Selangor to receive the ‘Standard Accounting System for Government Agencies’ (SAGA) recognition.
Yang Dipertua, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali said the success has made MDKL the second local authority in Malaysia to have received the SAGA Compliance Certificate from the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (JANM).
He said that it reflects the integrity in MDKL’s financial management, which is consistent with SAGA’s objective.

“Efforts to complete all requirements in compliance with SAGA since 2014 certainly produced very positive results.
“It makes us prouder that MDKL is one of the two local authorities across the country which were involved and eligible for the SAGA award,” he said.
On November 14, 2016 Mohd Azhar received the recognition in a ceremony officiated by Accountant General Dato’ Che Pee Samsudin in a hotel in Ipoh, Perak.
Mohd Azhar said the success was driven by the highly committed, strong and credible MDKL financial management team.
“I am grateful for the commitment shown by the MDKL officers and employees for this resounding award,” he said.
SAGA was created to ensure government agencies comply with financial regulations consistent with the application of Malaysian Accountant General Circular No. 2 Year 2015.
Earlier, there were six panel of assessors from the SAGA Compliance Committee who had visited and assessed the MDKL Accounting and Financial System, which is Century Financial System 8.0.
Results of the assessment found that it fulfils all criteria set by JANM and it was unconditionally recognised.
Prior to this, MDKL had also retained the Sijil Bersih with no warning, from the National Audit Department for the ninth time in a row for 2015 Financial Statement Audit.
