Number of flood victims in Kelantan continue to rise

KOTA BHARU, JAN 5: The total number of flood victims in Kelantan has risen to 12,636 compared to 12,400, up to 8 am this morning.
Kelantan Malaysia Civil Defense Department Director Zainuddin Hussin said, 62 relief centres are opened to place 4,307 families from eight districts in the state.
He said, the number of evacuees in Pasir Mas is 8,679 from 3,131 families, 1,965 (649 families) in Tumpat relief centres while 715 (184 families) are in five relief centres in Kota Bharu.
“In Tanah Merah, there are 314 people (79 families) placed in seven relief centres, 40 (8 families) in Kuala Krai relief centres and 568 (160 families) are in four relief centres in Pasir Puteh.
“Meanwhile, 245 people (68 families) are in Machang relief centres and 110 (28 families) are placed in one relief centre in Bachok.
He however said that the good weather yesterday is expected to reduce the number of evacuees in Kelantan today.
In the meantime, water levels in all areas are showing a downward trend, however in Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, it is still above the danger level which is 9 metres.
