SHAH ALAM, JAN 6: The congestion in Ampang Hospital needs to be resolved by providing a bus specially for visitors to help them avoid the need to look for parking spaces in the crammed area.
Chempaka Assemblyman Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said the bus must be connected to the nearest LRT stations and be routed through areas with ample parking spaces.
“The bus is necessary as there are limited parking spaces in the hospital. Patients and visitors are forced to park by the roadside and risk being fined by traffic police.
“Besides that, these cars along the road obstruct traffic and can cause accidents,” he said.
The nearest LRT stations to the hospital are Cahaya, Cempaka, Pandan Indah and Pandan Jaya.
He said that if Ampang Hospital cannot provide the bus service for free, they can opt to charge a minimum fee of RM0.50 or and offer service frequency of once every 30 minutes during peak hours and once every hour during normal hours.
“Providing a special bus is the most practical solution to the parking space shortage problem. There are no government lands nearby to be turned into parking lots.
