Thousands paid their last respect in commemoration of U Ko Ni

YANGON, Myanmar, JAN 31: Thousands had paid their last respects in commemoration of U Ko NI, 65, a legal advisor to Myanmar’s leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was killed at the Yangon Airport.
U Ko Ni is a prominent lawyer and patron of the Myanmar Muslim Lawyers Association which was newly formed.
He was known as a peace hero and activist in bringing about religious tolerance and cooperation. He has also written six books on basic human rights.
The incident happened when he just arrived from Indonesia as a Myanmar delegate attending a senior leadership meeting in Jakarta.
The government described U Ko Ni’s killing as an attempt to spark conflicts between communities in the country.
