SWELL to boost Selangor as most popular medical-tourism destination

SHAH ALAM, FEB 9: The Selangor Wellness Expo (SWELL) is believed to be capable of boosting Selangor’s potential to be one of the most popular medical-tourism destination in the region.
Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs Exco, Elizabeth Wong said, Selangor is now third in ranking behind Penang and Malacca in terms of medical-tourism in Malaysia.
She said, the State Government is however certain that Selangor can beat both states in the next few years.
“They have started with this agenda for the last 30 years, and we are just initiating this agenda in the past two or three years. Hence, we are quite far behind in comparison.
“However, with Selangor’s position and status today, I believe that we can also be at par with them,” he said at the SWELL media conference in Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) today.
Organised by Tourism Selangor, the expo is scheduled to start on February 24 until 26, 2017, at SACC.
In 2016, SWELL featured over 50 exhibitors and 14 health experts.
“More than 2,000 people attended SWELL last year and we expect to see up to 6,000 visitors this year.
“There are over 75 exhibitors and 22 speakers who will discuss topics on health throughout the three days,” he said.
