BENTONG, FEB 4: Selangor Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali expects the 14th General Election (GE14) will be held this September.
He said that his meeting with Umno Minister Khairy Jamaludin at an event in Raub this morning revealed that there would be the possibility that Parliament would be dissolved after the SEA Games and National Day in August.
“I am confident that GE14 will be held this September. In my meeting with Khairy Jamaludin, I asked him, when is SEA Games?
“He confirmed that the games will end on August 31, which is National Day.
“In fact, I myself have received information that as soon as SEA Games and National Day celebrations – which will be on a luxurious and grand scale – are over, that is when they will dissolve the Parliament.
“So I expect that it will be in September,” he said during a speech at the Tea with Dato’ Menteri Besar at the Desa Damai KEADILAN Branch Office this afternoon.
According to a January report by MalaysiaKini, a photo that went viral revealed that GE14 will be held within 200 days.
That report was made based on a photo of information on the wall of the office of the Subang Umno secretary, Mohd Rashidi Mohamad.
According to that calculation, elections should be held on Friday, June 30 this year, after the long school holidays and a few days just after Hari Raya Puasa.
Umno leaders have denied the report.
