Former Umno leader: Najib should be suspended too for impartial inquiry

BY: ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SHAH ALAM, FEB 2: Former Umno leader, Shahbudin Hussin said that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak should also be suspended to allow for an impartial inquiry on him, similar to MARA Chairman, Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s case.
He said, cabinet ministers should also not be exempted from being suspended off their duties to give way for unbiased investigation should they be found to practice corruption.
“Of course there is no legal provision to suspend a Prime Minister (PM) from his duties but Najib himself can suspend his duties willingly as a PM and Finance Minister by going on leave.

“Meanwhile, his duties can be taken over by another person to avoid his involvement and power abuse which can distract the investigation team.
“The question is, will this practice involve cabinet ministers, from PM to the deputy minister’s level, and up to State Government’s level?” wrote the former Wangsa Maju Umno Youth Chief on his blog.
Earlier, MARA’s senior management announced that Annuar’s suspension was decided during an emergency meeting held at MARA Headquarters.
However, Annuar was overseas on duty when the decision was made.
Annuar was previously associated with the misuse of MARA and University Kuala Lumpur’s (UniKL) money to sponsor The Red Warrior (TRW) football team.
Meanwhile, Najib was also associated with the RM2.6 billion financial fraud through the Government’s company, 1Malaysia Development Berhad, (1MDB).
