BY: SYAZWANI SUFIAN
SHAH ALAM, FEB 7: The Hulu Kelang Women’s Empowerment Centre (PWB) continues to develop with the success of its PWB Herb Garden.
Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi said there are more than 60 types of herbs that can be found in the two Herb Gardens, in AU2 and Kampung Kemensah.
“The Herb Gardens that they developed, not only flourished but can also be used as antidote and served as ‘ulam’.
“As the garden is growing fertile, they can also sell the produce as a source of income and to fund other PWB programmes,” she said in a statement.
Daroyah said, during her visit with PWB Supervisors from other Constituencies, they shared many knowledge on the types, consumption method and functions of every herb which are mostly easily found in our surrounding.
Besides that, they were also briefed on the use of wasted parts as a good organic fertiliser for plants’ health and growth, as craft and in cooking.
She added that Hulu Klang PWB is now in the process of producing a book on herb gardens to educate the younger generation on the benefits of herbs.
