One house, one aerosol to fight dengue

BY: SYAZWANI SUFIAN
BANGI, FEB 8: The State Government has launched the Selangor Aerosol Spraying (SAS) Programme themed ‘one house one aerosol’ as a proactive step to keep dengue under control.
Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi said that is a big-scale project organised in view of the increasing dengue cases.
“This is the first phase, as planned by the State Government, in view of the increasing number of cases for the past ten weeks.
“This programme is where Aerosols are given out to the community as an initiative to make them aware of the implication of aedes breeding in their homes,” she said.
She said that in her speech during the SAS programme ceremony at Surau Al-Amin, Seksyen 8, Bandar Baru Bangi, last night.
Daroyah said, SAS was launched in one of the dengue hotspot locality in Hulu Langat that registered the epidemic cases exceeding 100 days.
She said, there were 82 cases in Seksyen 8 just within 134 days.
“At the State level, we implement many initiatives in this area with the cooperation from many parties but dengue cases are still on the rise.
“This means the aegypti Aedes is breeding in homes which is encouraging the spread of the epidemic. Hence we launch this programme to create awareness in society on the importance of hygiene in their homes,” she said.
Daroyah also urged the authorities together with local communities to work together to reduce dengue cases within two weeks.
