Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor proves that housing price can be lowered

KUALA LUMPUR, MAR 23: Bukit Katil Member of Parliament, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin fully supports Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s initiative to introduce the affordable homes programme called ‘Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor’.
According to him, the initiative is timely considering citizens’ difficulties in owning quality homes which are low in cost due to soaring market prices.
“The Sultan’s announcement is a blow to the Johore Barisan Nasional Government when His Majesty himself had to intervene and go to the grounds to provide comfortable and affordable homes for the people.
“By right, the duty to provide basic necessities such as housing to those who need is the government’s responsibility,” he said.
Shamsul said, His Majesty’s effort to introduce this citizen-friendly programme gives a clear message that housing issues can be resolved if there is a strong political will not to bow down to developers’ attitude who are only in pursuit of profit.
He said when the current KEADILAN General Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the Finance Minister, he always put public housing as the main agenda in all development projects.
This agenda is then continued by the Selangor State Government through Rumah Selangorku.
“Pakatan Harapan (PAKATAN) is always committed on public housing programme implementation and will definitely make public housing as the main agenda upon receiving the mandate to form a new government in the coming GE14,” he said.
