SUBANG JAYA, MAR 14: The State Government has launched the Selangor Industrial Master Plan Study in an effort to develop the industrial sector, in turn improving the state’s economy.
Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said, the State Government through Invest Selangor has developed a cooperation with Monash University to conduct the study to realise the plan and Smart Selangor.
“Invest Selangor and Monash University will work together in this study within a 14-month period focusing on five main industrial cluster which are Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, Electric and Electronics, Transport Equipment and Machinery and Equipment.
“The study will serve as a guideline for the State Government to chart the action plan to bring the state’s economy to the next level,” he said in the Selangor Industrial Master Plan Study launching ceremony at Monash University Malaysia today.
Also present were Invest Selangor Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hasan Azhari Idris and Monash University Malaysia Vice President (Strategy) and Interim Vice President (Academic), Prof Mahendhiran Nair.
Following that, a dialogue session was held with participation of 200 people consisting of High Commissioners / Ambassadors, Trade Commissioners, Embassies’ representatives, Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, students, government departments, related agencies and existing companies in the state.
He said the dialogue session was held to create awareness among the parties involved in industrial activities and subsequently share ideas and feedbacks on the development of the five main industries in Selangor.
He said, Selangor plays an important role in the country’s development due to its position as a major Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contributor which is about 22 percent.
“Selangor has attracted investment with 242 projects last year at a value of RM7.88 billion,” he said.
