Selangor leads in appreciation of women

Happy World Women’s Day!
Today we celebrate the contributions, roles and achievements of women across the world with the theme #BeBoldForChange.
The Selangor State Government upholds women’s role as agent of change, consistent with United Nations in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, to achieve gender equality and empowerment for women and girls.
Women are blessed with the tenderness as a mother and wife, and given the strength and ability to lead society and country.
Women are the special ones who educate the next generation in forming societies and countries.
WOMEN'S DAY
The State Government is proud of women’s achievements in Selangor which are far ahead from other states in Malaysia. Selangor has 27% or 15 female Assemblymen, the Dewan Negeri Speaker is a woman, two State Excos, two female Yang DiPertua and one female District Officer.
Selangor is also proud that 41% Senior Officers in the State Government are women, two women judges were recently appointed in the Selangor Syariah Court, 25% of women are Council Members in the local authorities and a woman is at the helm of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), a statutory body which is the biggest state revenue contributor.
This proves that the Selangor State Government is serious in its effort to elevate women’s roles in the Government’s administration.
The support and assistance from State Government are continuous in elevating the agenda to empower women for everyone’s mutual benefit.
The launch of the #HeForShe campaign in 2016 on a Selangor State level proves the government’s commitment to call on all men to jointly fight for women’s rights, to protect and respect them in order to form a harmonious family institution, ultimately create a loving and respectful society.
Selangor has and always will move towards 30% women as policy-makers at all levels. So I urge Putrajaya to be professional and serious is implementing changes for the benefit and welfare of all women in Malaysia and not be flippant about it.
I challenge Putrajaya to #BeBoldForChange in implementing changes for women, families and children of the future for a better Malaysia for all of us.
