BY: ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SHAH ALAM, APR 19: Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein should not keep mum on the Scorpene submarine multi-billion ringgit scandal when Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak held the same post previously.
KEADILAN Youth Chief (AMK), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said, the issue must be cleared to the public to not worsen the country’s image internationally.
“The 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal has also ruined the country’s reputation internationally, in fact two officers involved with the Scorpene deal have been charged by French authorities.
“The 1MDB scandal which happened when Najib is Prime Minister and Finance Minister has already called for legal action in Switzerland, Singapore, America and Australia,” he said in a statement.
Hishammudin had earlier said he will not compromise and ready to be investigated if there is proof of his involvement with corruption in the ministry.
Quoting Sinar Online, Hishammudin said, any report of corruption relating to him can be submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Najib had denied any involvement with the Scorpene scandal although international media confirmed existence of dubious cash flow in the deal.
