Immediate action to avoid recurrence of flash floods

SHAH ALAM, APRIL 25: Parties concerned are urged to take immediate action and meet the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in carrying out road widening to avoid repeated flash floods in Kampung Harmoni, Ijok.
Ijok Member of the State Council, Dr Idris Ahmad said, other than the residents, the same call also pressed District and Land Office (PDT), the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS), Public Works Department (JPR) and the Engineering Department.
“Trench excavation work should be speeded up, as well as widening the ditch after what happened recently when the trench is reduced it fails to hold water from Gombak district.
“If there is no solution and immediate action, we are concerned that similar incidents will be repeated again and troubled the residents,” he told SelangorKini.
On April 18, about 16 families were affected and suffered property damage after their house flooded.
Not just homes, residents also suffered losses when the palm groves flooded for over a week.
Residents claimed that the incident was the worst unfortunate events in 50 years.
Recently, the media reported that the authorities must provide 500 bags of sand to cover two kilometres tire burst as an immediate solution.
