Bangi Assemblyman, Shafie Ngah said he had also presented them with hampers and sweets during visits held in two consecutive weekends, every Saturday and Sunday.
He said the Indian communities were in Bukit Mewah, Taman Sri Intan, Taman Kajang Sentral, Taman Bukit Kajang Baru, Taman Jasmin, West Country, Council Homes and Seksyen 16, Bandar Baru Bangi.
“We did the same for the Chinese during Chinese New Year. Now, we are making courtesy visits to the Indians to express our solidarity with them.
“They are also happy with what we are doing and hope the current State Government is retained in the future,” he said to SelangorKini.
The giveaways were sponsored by Bangi State Assembly Office and PAS Serdang.
This year, Puthandu is celebrated based on the Hindi solar calendar, which falls on April 14.
