MB: Mahathir-Nazri debate cancelled, proof PM is afraid

BY: HAFIZAN TAIB
SHAH ALAM, APR 3: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz’s debate cancellation proves that Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak is afraid it will affect his administration.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, Dr Mahathir will use the debate to expose all the scandals in Najib’s administration including 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), hence the debate is cancelled even with unreasonable excuse.
“I do not understand why is the permit cancelled because the reason given was so illogical, it seems that some residents protested against it, but the area is not near any residential area and the debate will be in a building, not in the open.

“Once again, this proves that the Prime Minister is afraid of Dr Mahathir exposing the 1MDB scandal with more solid proofs,” he said to the media yesterday.
He said, the cancellation clearly reflects that situation, because if Najib is certain it will not jeopardise his administration or credibility, he would have certainly not stop the debate.
The debate between former Prime Minister and the Tourism and Culture Minister should take place on April 7 at Karangkraf Sdn Bhd.
Sinar Harian Online informed that the cancellation is due to revocation of police permit.
Kumpulan Media Karangkraf Managing Director, Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub also apologised for the cancellation of the debate which was approved earlier.
Sinar Harian decided to organise the event after police also did not approve the debate between Dr Mahathir and Nazri, in Padang Rengas, Perak last March 25.
