MBPJ create SEDAR team to prevent dengue

SHAH ALAM, APRIL 24: Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) create SEDAR (Search and Destroy) team to address the issue of dengue in their area of administration.
Petaling Jaya mayor, Dato’ Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said the aim is to increase knowledge and awareness among volunteers on the disease while taking control measures.
“This team was created in MBPJ Tower, Civic Hall, Stadium MBPJ, MBPJ multi-purpose hall and a leisure park.
“The MBPJ Department of Health will play the role in ensuring the zero target larvae breeding on the premises will be achieved, thereby reducing dengue cases are prolonged in the locality,” he said when the SEDAR Team Launching Ceremony, recently.
He hoped the teamwork by SEDAR and Health Department staff will be deepened and constantly getting information from time to time.

At the same time, Mohd Azizi wants the team to implement activities once a week to carry out environmental inspections to find and destroy the breeding places of mosquito larvae.
The team was also required to report their activities through the application of ‘WhatsApp’ every week.
SEDAR team first established on 30 November 2014 at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai and increases up to 77 groups this year.
For the record, a total of 25 outbreaks with 16 area controlled localities, two localities uncontrolled and three hotspots localities identified.
