SELAYANG, APRIL 27: Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) will be emptying and cleaning scrap cars depot nearby MPS Stadium in preparation for the 29th SEA Games, in August.
Yang Dipertua MPS, Suliman Abd Rahman said, his side had discussed with the authorities and emptying work started, on 25 April.
He said the emptying work takes between three weeks or a month that needs to be carried out in stages to get the scrap cars out.
“Upon completion of the emptying work, we will start cleaning the affected areas to carry out appropriate recreational activities.
“The disposal process will be carried out from time to time to ensure that the dumping of abandoned cars can be solved,” he said during a press conference after a full meeting of MPS at the MPS Building, here, yesterday.
Suliman said, as many as 257 scrap vehicles were placed in the depots and 145 of that amount have been removed for disposal after completing the affairs with the police.
At the same time, Suliman said MPS issued a RM300,000 allocation for the maintenance and upgrading of the stadium, ahead of the SEA Games.
The upgrade involved the replacement of spectator seats, painting, landscaping and gate.
